A
Quilters’ Gathering
Sisterhood Swirls
The Ripple Effect of
Quilting Among Families and Friends
Mention
a quilt to someone, and they can’t help but have a story to tell with a
colossal smile on their face. Quilts not only tell a story within their
stitches, but they create a connection for people to share accepted
wisdom and life experiences. What started so very long ago amid
families and friends – has rotated from serviceable function to
gratifying gatherings. In the swirl of life the sisterhood amongst
Quilters is beloved and treasured. It is a warm smile on a cold and
rainy day, a friendly hug, a cheerful hello. It is sacred; it is having
someone there for you. It is dreams united and goals achieved. It's
counting on others and being counted on. It is real and it will
continue to endure the test of time…
THANK
YOU!
To everyone whose work was in the Quilt Exhibit
Sisterhood Swirls!
The
quilts entered in this year's contest,
Sisterhood Swirls
were absolutely
spectacular. Viewers were in awe of the beauty of design and quality of
workmanship of each piece. The quilts and clothing included in this
year's exhibit came from throughout the United States
and Canada,
and represented
many styles and techniques. Traditional and non-traditional quilts were
pretty much equal in number, and both machine and hand quilting were
well represented.
Quilt Judges, Molly Waddell and
Carole Peterson were not
far into the task of judging when they realized that it was not going to
be easy to decide award-winners from so many entries that qualified for
awards. They were certainly delighted, however, to have such outstanding
pieces to review. In the end they were down to the last details for the
final decisions, and as the enclosed list of winners shows, they did
their job well! As a final note, the Judges were unanimous in their
opinion that everyone whose pieces were selected for exhibit should be
proud indeed.
Congratulations to everyone whose work was shown this year and to all of
you who took ribbons. Again, thank you for participating in the
2011 –
