Jeanne E.
Glenfield
These special quilts made by Jeanne during the past 30+ years. A life
filled with love for family and friends, in which quilting played a
major part.
Jeanne took great pleasure in her various artistic endeavors with
quilting being her particular passion. Hand work was her specialty and
she took great pride in her work. From her smallest piece to her
largest, Jeanne's love of applique is evident in the beautiful execution
of her quilts, many of which are included in this exhibit.
Jeanne's early interest in art was as an oil painter and for a time she
was fully involved with the Chelmsford Art Society. However, after
working on a quilting project with the historic Chelmsford Garrison
House, her lifelong interest in quilting began. Jeanne set aside her
brushes, took up needle and thread, and the rest, as they say, "is
history." As a quilter, one of her proudest achievements was being
co-founder of A Quilters' Gathering. A Quilters' Gathering was first
presented in 1989 by co-founders and directors, Marie Geary and Jeanne
Glenfield. Marie Geary provided gallery talks for this special exhibit
in 2008 and told about this long-time friendship and partnership.
Jeanne was born January 8, 1939 in Lancaster, PA. After 14 months spent
traveling and enjoying her family and friends, while bravely battling
cancer, she passed away July 22, 2007. Eastcoast Quilters Alliance 3,
LLC is pleased to present this exhibit of Jeanne's beautiful quilts in
honor of her achievements.
