A NOTE TO
ALL OUR QUILTING FRIENDS
Many Conference
Participants enjoy helping out as a QUILT STITCH - it's easy, fun, takes
little time, and you get to choose what you want to do. Here are
some of the great "job" opportunities at A Quilters' Gathering.
-
ADMISSIONS: Greeting
quilters from all over the country as they arrive to see the show,
collecting the admission fees, stamping hands, handing out programs.
A sit-down assignment usually done by two people.
-
WHITE GLOVE: A great
way to take your exercise for the day as you walk amongst the
beautiful quilts reminding visitors that only the one wearing the
white gloves gets to touch the quilts. When asked, you may
show the back of a quilt.
-
TEACHER ASSIST: Your
chance to be a teacher's pet as you take attendance, pass out and
collect evaluation forms, help the teacher show their sample quilts,
distribute handouts, etc. Good for someone who likes variety.
-
SET UP AND TAKE DOWN
EXHIBIT: Many hands make light of this major undertaking which
starts with Scribing for the Judges during the quilt reviewing
process (usually Tuesday afternoon and/or evening). When the
quilts have all been judged, they must be hung (usually all day
Wednesday). This is done in shifts with the last crew putting
the final touches to the show around midnight. Take down is
Sunday afternoon, it's no fuss and very fast.
-
ANYTHING: There are
lots of jobs always needing to be done whenever anyone is available.
On the
Registration form is a QUILT STITCH section for you to check the times
you might be able to help and the assignments you might be interested
in. Anyone who assists for a minimum of two hours will receive a
mug with the logo of this year's Gathering. It is our way
of saying...
THANK YOU FOR BEING A QUILT STITCH.
